Amendment to O. Reg. 589/06, Dissolution of and Assumption of Powers of Local Boards

The Minister of Municipal Affairs is proposing an amendment to Ontario Regulation 589/06 under the City of Toronto Act, 2006 to remove the reference to the Toronto Atmospheric Fund Foundation so that the Toronto Atmospheric Fund Foundation is not deemed a local board of the City by that regulation.

The goal of the proposed regulation is to ensure that species at risk are protected under the new act while providing certainty to industry and the public when the Endangered Species Act, 2007 comes into force.

Landfill Gas Collection and Control Regulation  (source: Environmental Registry)

The purpose of this regulation is to reduce landfill gas emissions to the atmosphere to help meet Ontario's greenhouse gas reduction targets. Reducing landfill gas emissions will also reduce the emission of trace compounds in landfill gas that may cause odour or affect local air quality.

Consequential amendments to regulations made under the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 to effect the transfer of regulatory authority for small drinking water systems as defined in the Health Protection and Promotion Act to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.  (source: Environmental Registry)

The transfer of small drinking water systems to MOHLTC requires MOE to make several changes to regulations made under the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 (SDWA) in order to effect the transfer.

As a part of the government's commitment to implement all of the recommendations of the Walkerton Inquiry, and to implement the source protection framework set out by the Clean Water Act, 2006, the government is preparing regulations under the Act to support the development and implementation of source protection plans across the province. The draft regulations provide an opportunity to comment, and therefore assist in the preparation of Clean Water Act regulations.

Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006: Additional Draft Regulations for Consultation

The proposed new and amending regulations support the implementation of a new framework for regulating the mortgage brokerage industry and include standards of practice, cost of borrowing disclosure rules, rules on administrative penalties and an exemption from licensing personal corporations of mortgage brokers and agents, subject to conditions. These regulations and amendments are intended for discussion purposes and would only become law if promulgated by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006: A Consultation Draft of Regulations

These draft regulations outline additional regulated activities, exemptions, licensing requirements, the power and duties of principal brokers and the standards of practice for brokerages under Bill 65: Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006. These proposals are intended for discussion purposes and would only become law if the regulations are promulgated by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. Bill 65 was passed by legislature on November 27, 2006 and is awaiting Royal Assent.
