Amendment to the Regulation Governing the Accreditation of Farm organizations Under the Farm Business Registration Program

OMAFRA, is proposing amendments to Ontario Regulation 723/93 - General (O. Reg. 723/93) that governs the Farm Business Registration (FBR) Program. The proposed changes would: - Streamline the eligibility criteria for farm organizations have to become accredited; - Contain a transitional provision that would allow the AFRAAT to apply the new criteria to existing applications; and - Are temporary in nature in that the old eligibility requirements come back into force in one year.

On August 5, 2009, the ministries of the Environment and Natural Resources posted a Proposal Notice on the EBR to seek public input on the development of Ontario water conservation and efficiency goals and objectives, as committed to under the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Sustainable Water Resources Agreement (Agreement). Based on consultation and comments received, Ontario is adopting the Basin-wide water conservation goals and objectives.

Amendment to Ontario Regulation 79/10, made under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 and R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 552 under the Health Insurance Act to Increase the Comfort Allowance effective November 1, 2012

The amendment will increase the comfort allowance from $132/month to $134/month effective November 1st, 2012. The increase in comfort allowance is aligned with the 1% increase to the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) personal needs allowance (PNA) and is intended to support low income residents by allowing them to maintain adequate resources to cover their personal needs above and beyond the meal and accommodation services funded through the co-payment.

Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022 was passed by the Legislature and received Royal Assent on November 28, 2022. We have extended the deadline of this posting to enable your feedback to continue to be submitted so that it can help inform the implementation of this proposal as well as future initiatives. The government is exploring any and all ways to increase housing supply to reach its goal of building 1.5 million homes over the next ten years.

Amendments to Regulation 391 (Asparagus - Plan) and Regulation 390 (Asparagus - Marketing) to revise the way a marketing board is constituted and to change its name to the "Asparagus Farmers of Ontario".

The Ontario Asparagus Growers Marketing Board has asked the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission to change its official name to "Asparagus Growers of Ontario" and also for changes to the way it is constituted. The requested changes are in response to the declining number of producers and the concentration of the industry in the Norfolk area and would require amendments to Regulations 391 and 390. The Commission supports the requested amendments.

The Ministry of the Environment has implemented an Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR) which allows businesses to register prescribed activities in the EASR instead of seeking an Environmental Compliance Approval. The EASR is a public, web-based registry system.

On April 2, 2012, the Ministry of the Environment posted proposed regulatory amendments to O. Reg. 359/09 and Regulation 334 as part of the response to the Feed-In-Tariff review. As a result of comments received as well as a thorough review and confirmation of over 120 natural heritage assessments by the Ministry of Natural Resources, additional regulatory amendments are being proposed for comment.

Pension Benefits Act: Proposed Regulation Respecting Letters of Credit

The amending regulation would implement the 2012 Budget commitment to provide regulations that would enable s.55.2 of the PBA and permit employers to use irrevocable letters of credit from a financial institution to cover as much as 15 per cent of a pension plan's solvency liabilities.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is proposing amendments to R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 274 "Forms" under the Drainage Act and R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 1032 "Borrowing By-Laws, Debentures and Loans" under the Tile Drainage Act. The proposed amendments intend to make the forms more user-friendly, remove obsolete and unnecessary forms and amalgamate like forms. These changes are in keeping with the ministry's commitment to the Open for Business initiative.

Proposed Regulation Amendments to Professional Development for Land Surveyors

Under the Surveyors Act, the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS) is proposing changes to Regulation 1026 under the Surveyors Act, which if passed, will require mandatory reporting, establish a minimum acceptable level of continuing education by members of the Association and provide flexibility to the Academic and Experience Requirements Committee of the AOLS to waive a term of articles for professional surveyors with equivalent experience.
