Amendments to Highway Traffic Act (HTA) Regulations to remove paper-based barriers for the commercial vehicle industry.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is proposing to amend several HTA regulations to make government work better for the people and businesses of Ontario in the digital era. In order to enable digital products and services for the commercial vehicle safety and oversight, legislative changes were made to the HTA. These regulatory amendments are required to support the legislative amendments which will allow the ministry to communicate with the clients via electronic and digital methods.

Proposal to end nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide emissions trading | Environmental Registry of Ontario

We have decided to end the nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide (NOx and SO2) emissions trading program, by revoking O. Reg. 397/01 and O. Reg. 194/05 made under the Environmental Protection Act (the Regulations). The Program is no longer an effective tool to address emissions of these contaminants from regulated sectors in its current form.

Updating regulations under the Farm Registration and Farm Organizations Funding Act, 1993 (FRFOFA), which establishes the Farm Business Registration Program (FBR Program), to support electronic delivery of the Farm Business Registration program, reduce administrative burden for farmers, and provide flexibility due to COVID-19.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is proposing to implement amendments made to the FRFOFA by the Restoring Ontario's Competitiveness Act, 2019, the Better For People, Smarter For Business Act, 2019, and the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Act, 2020. The amendments will reduce administrative burden and enable online delivery of the Farm Business Registration Program. Changes also provide temporary relief for farm businesses whose income was negatively impacted by COVID-19.

New Regulation under the Special Investigations Unit Act regarding communication about a SIU Investigation

The SIU Act generally prohibits the sharing of information respecting an ongoing SIU investigation or inquiry by police. The new SIU Act will allow a police service to disclose that the SIU Director has been notified of an incident involving a police officer and is conducting an investigation/inquiry. The proposed regulation would allow the Niagara Parks Police and the Legislative Protective Service to also disclose such information.

Falconry is regulated under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997 (FWCA) and regulations made under the Act. Ontario falconers are required to successfully complete an apprentice program and obtain a licence to be able to hunt with native Ontario raptors. There are approximately 200 licensed falconers in Ontario. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is proposing to expand the live capture of wild raptors by licensed falconers.

COVID-19 Pandemic Response: Relief from Additional Co-Payment

To help alleviate the unintended cost impact to ODB program recipients due to measures taken by government in response to COVID-19, the Ministry of Health is proposing to amend O. Reg. 201/96 under the Ontario Drug Benefit Act to ensure recipients are not paying additional co-payments as a result of government's 30-day supply limit recommendation. The cost of the additional co-payments would be shared between the government and dispensers through proposed amendments to dispensing fee rules.

Modernizing the Legislative Framework for Home and Community Care

The government introduced the Connecting People to Home and Community Care Act, 2020 on February 25. If passed by the Ontario legislature, the ministry is proposing regulations under the Connecting Care Act, 2019 and other statues to support the provision of home and community care services and continue subrogation provisions. Eventually, the Home Care and Community Services Act, 1994 would be repealed and its regulations revoked.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is soliciting public comment on a new voluntary regulatory framework to allow manufacturers seeking to produce and sell vehicles in Ontario in low volumes to substitute engineering analysis, including virtual destructive testing, for some physical destructive tests set out in the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
