A new regulation under the Alcohol, Cannabis and Gaming Regulation and Public Protection Act, 1996 establishes a lottery subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to conduct and manage the province's internet gaming (iGaming) framework. Amendments to O. Reg 78/12 under the Gaming Control Act, 1992 exempt non-gaming related suppliers and gaming assistants from requiring registration under the Act for iGaming.

Proposed amendment to Ontario Regulation 826/90 to change the area subject to development control under the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act

The purpose of this proposed amendment is to modernize the format of the regulation from text-based meets and bounds descriptions to a digital map of the area of development control, and in the process increase precision and correct errors.

Amendments to the Environmental Compliance Approval in respect of Sewage Works Regulation  (source: Environmental Registry)

We have made minor amendments to the Environmental Compliance Approval in respect of Sewage Works Regulation (O. Reg. 208/19). The amendments allow prescribed persons to make future alterations to municipal sanitary collection and stormwater works without requiring a separate approval if certain conditions are met.

Notice to amend Ontario Regulation 403/02 (Debt and Financial Obligation Limits) under the Municipal Act, 2001 to extend the increased annual debt-limit rules for York Region

The province has extended the increased debt-limit rules for York Region for an additional 10 years, from its current expiry date to December 31, 2031.

We are proposing to amend Ontario Regulation 161/99 to exempt certain electricity transmission projects that are not expected to have a significant ratepayer impact from the requirement to obtain Section 92 (electricity Leave to Construct) approval from the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). This will remove a regulatory hurdle for project proponents.

We are seeking input on our proposed draft regulation for hazardous and special products (HSP), under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016, that would require producers of hazardous and special products, such as paints, pesticides, solvents, oil filters, antifreeze and pressurized containers, to collect, manage or promote the recycling or proper disposal of these products at end-of-life.

Police Record Checks Reform Act, Exemptions Proposal

This proposal describes the specific types of screening that are being considered for exemption from the Police Record Checks Reform Act, 2015. If approved, police record checks conducted for these types of screening would not have to follow certain requirements, which are set out in the regulation

Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) proposal to amend R.R.O 1990, Reg. 18 - General under the Agricultural Tile Drainage Installation Act (ATDIA).

As part of government's plan to create a more competitive business environment, OMAFRA is proposing to eliminate fees of $50 or less in Reg. 18. The proposal will save businesses the cost of the fees and the administrative cost associated with the issuing of cheques. Public protection oversight will not be reduced as a result of these changes. Businesses that were required to be licensed before would still need to be licensed. OMAFRA will also retain the legal authority to conduct inspections.

Improvements to Ontario's New Home Warranty and Protection Program (ONHWPA Phase 2)

The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is proposed regulation changes under the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act. These changes would 1) address matters relating to a simplified warranty claims process; 2) establish a mediation process for warranty claim disputes; and 3) specify duties of the ombudsperson (the New Home Ombuds) that include a focus on helping consumers.

Proposal to Modernize Regulatory Requirements for Part VII - Notices under the Occupational Health and Safety Act

The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) is proposing to streamline the prescribed written reporting requirements into a single regulation that would apply to all workplaces covered under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
