On January 16, 2014, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) posted a regulatory proposal to create a mechanism to authorize experiments at the Experimental Lakes Area (ELA) under provincial environmental protection legislation. A decision has been made to proceed with the proposed regulations under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) and Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA).

The purpose of this proposal is to provide additional recreational hunting opportunities and increased economic benefits from wild turkey hunting consistent with landscape-level goals established in policy in the Wild Turkey Management Plan for Ontario (i.e., managing for sustainability in the Mixedwood Plains Ecozone in southern Ontario, and providing hunting opportunities where they exist in areas farther north in the Boreal Shield Ecozone).

The Pulp and Paper sector has approached Ministry of the Environment (MOE) with a request to develop a proposed Technical Standard under the local air quality regulation (O. Reg. 419/05: Air Pollution - Local Air Quality). A technical standard is a technology-based compliance approach designed for two or more facilities in a sector that may not be able to meet one or more air standards due to technical or economic limitations.
